Some folks I know drove over two hours one-way to Rhode Island to purchase a generator. Generators flew off the shelves around New England and the lines at gas stations grew to over an hour’s wait because everyone needed gas to power the generators.

If you are going on vacation make sure you cut the water supply off to your home. Many times floods occur when you are away from home. It would be tragic to come home to a house full of water and your priceless belongings destroyed due to a leaking toilet base repair or water heater.

Check your pipes regularly for wear and tear. Replace any worn out or broken parts. Holes, leaks and rust can be fixed up temporarily, but you will only put off replacement for so long. For a long term fix, buy a replacement part and install it.

There is no advantage to buying large quantities of something that you may never use. Toilet paper is the only thing that we buy in bulk. We use cloth instead of paper napkins or towels. It reduces our trash and saves us personal money, too.

While installing low or dual flush toilets can greatly help you conserve water and eliminate water waste, this alone can not serve as the single solution to water overuse. This should not discourage anyone from installing or purchasing any of the above devices, but it is suggested that you look into conserving and eliminating other types of water wastes in addition to that from toilets.

Dripping Faucets: A faucet that is constantly dripping can be an aggravating experience. You can normally fix a toilet problems by replacing the washer. A leaky faucet should be fixed as soon as possible so that you do not waste water and drive up your water bill. Repairing immediately will help prevent further damage to the fixtures and faucets.

Before hiring a contractor for plumbing or other jobs, make sure you look into their records through the Department of Consumer Affairs. Make sure that every plumber you’re considering has an up to date license, and investigate whether they have outstanding negative complaints. If they don’t have a current license, you don’t want them working for you.

Is your bed well-suited to you? You should be able to move in it without difficulty. Since your bed is where you spend one third of your life, get the best you can afford. Make sure it is correctly placed in the room. Most people prefer to sleep with their head toward the window. Even the material in the mattress and the bedclothes may affect your sleep. For example, a nightdress of synthetic fiber might cause discomfort.
